Department of Urdu

The Department of Urdu was established in 1968. The departments main objective is to spread awareness about literary and cultural importance and relevance of the Urdu culture, language and literature in Karnataka and around the world. It aims to promote the Urdu language as the language of knowledge, and Urdu literature as the literature of values especially human values then can withstand and buffeting forces of time. It aims at carrying original research to develop the field of knowledge.

The scope of the department is multi-faceted with applications in various fields Urdu literature is rich in its heritage and culture and holds tremendous scope and bright future. The department provides quality education to the student/ learner both at UG levels. The study material designed by the department is in accordance with the over Rani Channamma University, Belagavi (Karnataka) motto and is designed to benefit the student community interested in the subject by offering flexibility the mode of education offered is the open system of education which as proven to be a boon to interested traditional college. The curriculum of the programme in Urdu is developed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and job market requirement.
