About the Department:
The Department of Economics was established in the year 1968.
Pioneer Faculty- Prof. I.N. Shimpi and Prof. I.B. Udapudi
Subsequently Prof. G.N. Tatti joined the Department.
Faculty at Present: Dr. B.A. Guli and Prof. R.D. Nandeppanavar.
Vision:
To create interest among the students learn and understand the basic Economic principals so as to solve economic problems at micro and macro level.
Mission:
To impart quality education in Economics by continuous improvement in the competency of teachers and applications of innovative teaching methods.
Course Offered: B.A Economics
Before 2005, Economics was taught as Major and Minor subject.
With the introduction Semester system in 2005-06 it is taught as one of the Optional Subjects.
With the implementation of NEP in 2020-21 Economics is taught as DSC and OEC.
The planning Forum:
It was established in 1976 and is an unique feature of the Department.
Our Department has been instrumental in organizing Orientation programme, A.D. Shroff memorial Elocution competition, Industrial visit, Field visit, Economics Survey, Budget projection, Group Discussion etc. Through these events trying to create a vibrant and energetic atmosphere for students so that academically and socially they are able to grow.
